TCG(ISG) in Hong Kong wins a silver health and safety award

Consecutively recognised for the second year, ISG in Hong Kong is honoured to have received a silver award during the 20th Construction Safety Forum and Award Presentation Ceremony held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai.

The award jointly organised by the Occupational Safety and Health Council, Labour Department together with government departments, unions and associations recognises contractors, construction site management, safety professionals and frontline workers with excellent occupational health and safety standards.

This year, ISG’s ongoing refurbishment and alteration and addition (A&A) project for Alexandra House located in Central, was shortlisted for the competition. The project is a high-risk and highly technical scheme that includes working at height for windows opening and structural works, requiring high safety standard for accident prevention.

ISG’s safety team has implemented an effective Safety Management System (SMS) which complies with OHSAS 18001 and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (F&IU) Ordinance released by the Labour Department, ensuring a high standard of occupational health and safety at all times.

Amongst the eight shortlisted organisations, ISG’s exceptional health and safety practices adopted on the Alexandra House project saw the business won a silver award in the “Best Refurbishment and Maintenance Contractor in Occupational Safety and Health” category.

Proud of receiving the second accolade from the same annual award, HSQE manager in Hong Kong, Tony Kwok, commented: “The award is a motivating reward to recognise our team’s efforts in maintaining high healthy and safety standards for this complex project, involving implementation of SMS, risk assessment, regular safety inspection and audit, routine meetings to review the effectiveness of SMS.”

Operations director, Mark Osborne commented on the achievement: “We have been actively supporting and reinforcing our safety culture across all sectors of our business and are extremely proud to have had our efforts recognised in consecutive years. This focus will continue as we implement our new ‘Choose safe. Choose health.’ campaign.
