Stamford American School’s Flagship Campus. A Landmark in Future Ready Education

Stamford American School sits in the heart of Kowloon and serves a fast growing international community with expectations of high quality learning environments. The project involved establishing a new Stamford campus designed around innovation, global readiness and hands on learning. Creating this environment required rethinking the entire interior, which blended academic classrooms with creative studios and specialist facilities.

Stamford’s vision aligned with the P&T Architects’ intent to create “an exceptional campus for an exceptional school”. Designed across approximately 7,500 square metres and three floors, the new campus incorporates circadian lighting, acoustic wall panels and communal areas intentionally planned as learning neighbourhoods. These elements support evolving teaching methods and create a university style environment for older students.

Designing Classrooms for a New Generation of Learners

The new Stamford campus was planned around specialist learning spaces tailored to contemporary teaching needs. Rooms were designed to support robotics, art, performance and project based learning, reflecting a broader shift toward flexible layouts, writable surfaces and technology rich environments. This was reinforced by P&T Architects through the introduction of communal areas that operate as informal learning neighbourhoods.

The renovation delivered a robotics and maker lab equipped with overhead power reels, durable floors and generous storage so students can prototype, test and reset with ease.

New art studios offer clean sightlines, sinks and worktops for both traditional and digital media.

A black box theatre adds a dedicated space for drama, assemblies and presentations.

These sit alongside music studios, science labs, design technology labs and exhibition areas that widen the school’s capability beyond conventional classrooms.

How the New Campus Was Built

To establish Stamford’s new campus, TCG in Hong Kong first demolished all existing finishes, partitions and infrastructure left behind by the previous school. This cleared the interior back to its structural shell and created the opportunity for a full package of institutional A and A works. This also enabled the creation of a double volume space that gives students a sense of openness rarely found in traditional classrooms.

A grand staircase followed, designed as both a circulation feature and a gathering point. It connects all three floors and reinforces the architects’ goal of a university like campus environment.

Supporting all this was a complete MEP upgrade. Electrical systems were redesigned to support robotics and specialist equipment. Mechanical systems were improved for better air quality in workshop areas and acoustics were optimised for the theatre and music rooms.

The final stage was extensive fitting out. This included millwork for storage walls, durable flooring, writable surfaces, acoustic treatments and flexible furniture layouts that staff can reconfigure in minutes. Each detail helped turn the new interiors into a cohesive learning environment that feels purposeful and seamless.

The result is a campus that supports the way modern students learn while staying aligned with the school’s long term vision. From structural works to specialist classrooms, every detail was delivered with safety, clarity and day to day usability in mind.

The new Stamford American School Hong Kong campus now offers a future ready environment that students can explore and teachers can rely on. If you are exploring new campuses or planning future ready learning facilities in Hong Kong, our team is always open to a conversation.
